HY 366/367 (Honors): Britain at War 1914-1945
Fulfillments: Honors (optional); Upper Level European Field Requirement for History Majors
The first and Second World Wars are inscribed upon the landscape of Oxford. In this course, students will explore the war experience up close, paying attention to the ways that these wars have been remembered by people in the decades that have followed. Students spend more time out in the city than they do in the classroom, visiting memorials, gardens, sites of conflict, and sites of sorrow. All students in the class take a trip to London to visit the Imperial War Museum.
